Gearing up for Season Three
As season three approaches, we are busily getting ready for summer. The application process for campers started a little over a month ago and the response has been overwhelming. More than half the campers from last year have already registered to return this summer. I received a frantic call from a parent who feared that she had missed the deadline to enroll her son. She said, “Part of your mission at Camp Harbor View is to prevent high risk behaviors in kids, right? Well you can prevent a 13 year old from running away and never speaking to his mom again, if you let my son come back to camp!!” We get countless calls from parents of new campers, stunned at everything the camp has to offer and so excited at the possibility of their child participating in the program.
Our Counselor In Training program will expand to include both 15 and 16 year old form campers. We will spend two days of April vacation screening the applicants and making our selection. The response again has been amazing, it seems once the young people in Boston get a taste of Camp Harbor View, they never want to leave!!
We have also started the hiring process for staff. We are fortunate that more than half of our staff will be returning and are so excited to reconnect with campers. We have wonderful applicants for the remaining positions and are confident that the team will be the best one yet!!
