Camp Harbor View

January Kicks Off 2010 Spring Training Camp!

Beginning this January, Camp Harbor View is excited to introduce Spring Training Camp – a series of activities and reunions for existing Camp Harbor View (CHV) campers and Counselors in Training based on the core curriculum of the Camp Harbor View summer session programming.

CHV’s programming is based on five key areas of development: The Arts, Knowledge is Power, Leadership Development, Sports and Fitness, and Aquatics. Activities and program partners are chosen to support and enrich each area. Through this thoughtful design, campers are exposed to a wide variety of experiences, opportunities for learning, and fun that they otherwise would not have access to in their daily lives. We’ve found that this exposure has opened campers’ minds to possibilities for their future and helped them discover skills and passions they never knew they possessed.

Over the course of the next six months, we will delve deeper into each key area by assigning one to each month as a theme for that month. At the monthly reunions, campers will have the opportunity to participate in fun activities and learn from special guests based on the month’s theme. They will also be able to spend time with camp staff and friends from their summers at CHV.

The calendar is as follows:
January – Kick-Off
February – The Arts
March – Knowledge is Power
April – Leadership Development
May – Sports and Fitness
June – Aquatics

In the colder months, the campers will meet at a local Boys & Girls Club. Come Spring, Spring Training reunions will be held at Camp Harbor View on Long Island.

During Spring Training we will share with you a little more about each key area and why it is an integral part of CHV. Check back here for fun news and updates each month!
