Camp Harbor View

Additional Year-Round Staff

Wendy Knight

Social Worker

Wendy Knight is a Social Worker for Camp Harbor View. She joined the CHV team in June 2010 and enjoys being able to work in such a positive and supportive place. She went into social work after being inspired by her experience in high school that offered her the opportunity to work with youth from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Taunton. Since going into social work, Wendy has gained 9 years of experience working with teens and their families. During this time, Wendy earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from Simmons College in Boston, MA and a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA.

In addition to her experience at CHV, Wendy has a diverse background in working with teens and their families, spanning from alternative and special education schools, community-based programs, and adventure-based education. She brings a creative outreach approach to teens through opportunities for artistic expression and engaging them in therapeutic adventure-based programming.

In the off-season, Wendy looks forward to developing relationships with CHV families who seek out support services for various life difficulties. It is through such meetings that Wendy learns of each family’s unique resilience and strength.

Wendy feels blessed to work at CHV, where teens and families are provided opportunities to develop coping skills and self-confidence that will make all the difference in their lives.

Deanna Cox

Leaders in Training Youth Worker

Deanna Cox grew up in Dorchester, MA.  After attending Rivers High School she was awarded a full scholarship from the POSSE Foundation to attend Union College.  She graduated in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree.  She double majored in Political Science and Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and minored in History.  Since its foundation in 2007, she has been a critical member of the CHV team as a camp counselor.   When the off-season program expanded to include youth workers in November 2010, Deanna was a logical choice.  Deanna is now an LIT Youth Worker for Camp Harbor View.   Her enthusiasm and optimistic attitude has always made her a favorite of the campers, and we were excited to make her a part of the year round team.  Deanna thoroughly enjoys working with the teenagers, many of whom were once her campers.   A resident of Boston, Deanna strives to help the youth see their potential, know their value, and strive for academic and personal excellence in all that they do, while still employing CHV’s Core Values of 1,2,3 Lead!

Stefano Barros

Leaders in Training Youth Worker

Stefano Barros is a youth worker in the Leaders in Training program at Camp Harbor View. He started working with the LIT program in October of 2011, hoping to bring yet another enthusiastic and exciting persona into the wonderful staff. Working with Camp Harbor View since the beach was their version of the pool and the dock was non-existent in 2007, Stefano worked as a Camp Counselor for three years before becoming a Team Leader for the last two years. He loves working with youth (hence the position he now holds) and strives to bring the best out of them in everything they do.

Stefano graduated from Boston College in 2011 with a Bachelor’s in Communication. At Boston College, he was very involved in extracurricular activities, from being a co-director of the AHANA (African Hispanic Asian Native American) Leadership Council, to being a member of Black Experience in America Through Song (BEATS) an a capella group! He tries to bring out his leadership skills that he learned at both BC and at Camp Harbor View into anything he may need to accomplish.

He considers himself extremely fortunate to be at the by far best job ever created. EVER.
